Students & Families : Testimonials

Why should I send my child to KIPP TRUTH? Are students really in class that long? Is it worth it?

As a parent, one of the most important decisions you will make is the type of education you want for your child. While education is a fundamental right for all children, it’s important to be aware of the opportunities available to ensure a truly stellar education. KIPP TRUTH Academy’s goal is to equip each student with the necessary tools to attend college, succeed in college, and become productive citizens in life. At KIPP TRUTH, we are committed to delivering on the promise to our students: ALL of us WILL learn.

Read what our parents and student have to say about their experiences at KIPP TRUTH:

"I like KIPP TRUTH Academy because it is teaching my son how to be more responsible. I like the rules this school has, also he is learning more than when he was at his previous school. Thanks KIPP TRUTH Academy and thanks all the teachers." Belen Perez, 7th grade student parent

The one thing that KIPP TRUTH Academy does the best is go back to the basics-step by step learning. My child went up 2 reading levels her first year." - Debbie Napoli, 5th grade student parent

"Once we partnered with KIPP, college became a reality to our son. We begin to see him finally embrace the concepts of not taking shortcuts in his education, not to mention how important it is to just be a nice person. The hands on, regimented approach at KIPP provides a firm foundation, and environment for learning. It has done wonders for our son all the way around! He has developed by leaps and bounds at KIPP. Without it, I do not know where he would be academically. "Beverly Bland, 6th grade student parent

It has been a joy, a great opportunity and a wonderful experience for my son to attend and be a part of the KIPP TRUTH Academy family. He is a 5th grader this year. He is focused on what he is supposed to do. At the elementary school where he came from, he was at a B&C grade level, but now he is an A student on the “Directors List”. He reads everyday…I like the idea of the students having access to their teacher’s phone numbers in case the student needs explanation on homework. The students are given incentives and opportunities to earn points and privileges for such things as a scholarship after 8th grade, a school shirt, and the end of year field trip to Atlanta, GA for the 5th grades. – Brenda Guyden, 5th grade student parent

"I have always hoped to provide my son with the best education possible. I believe that the time and effort put into today is an investment into his future. It is true the curriculm at KIPP is demanding. I honestly have had doubts, but luckily we gave the school a chance. Each year seems to be easier than the previous. I have seen my son become independent about his studies while actively participating in the school’s musical and other activities. My son has started his search for a good secondary school based on his future goals. During class discussions students are made aware of the top schools , and the requirements to be expected. It was my son who brought up the idea of possibly attending a boarding school to me. After some research, it is definitely a possibility. KIPP teaches its students that anything is possible." – Shannon Banks, 7th grade parent

"One day I passed by KIPP to ask what was needed to enroll my 5th grade daughter and I was very surprised to hear it was free and all I needed was the will and the interest for my child to attend KIPP. I am extremely grateful with the principal and the whole team at KIPP TRUTH Academy. I would need much more space to explain how wonderful KIPP is to me, it is what every parent wishes for their kids. The respect and values given to each and every student is the greatest. I love the fact that they raise each child’s self-esteem. Thanks KIPP TRUTH Academy for being the greatest!" – Juana Estrada, 5th grade parent
